Global Travel Insurance Scheme
Yemen Airways (Yemenia) as policyholder and in respect of passengers of Yemenia- Yemen Airways International flights.
"Insured Person" means:
Persons who purchased a ticket for Yemenia International flights sold within the Policy Period, actually travelling on the booked flight, and falling within the following categories:
A.     Outbound traveller is a person who has purchased a Yemenia Ticket (including the partner’s code-share flight Ticket) to travel abroad outside of Yemen
B.      Inbound traveller is a person who has purchased a Yemenia Ticket (including the partner’s code-share flight Ticket) to travel and stay in Yemen.
Each Outbound, Inbound and Sector traveller named on the Partner’s Ticket, is deemed to be insured in relation to the part of the trip that is carried by Yemenia- YemenAirways.
Travellers transported without a ticket (e.g. off-duty crews) are not insured.
"Immediate Family Member" means:
The spouse or fiancé, children (aged 18 or less) or parents accompanying permanently or residing with the Insured Person.
"The INSURED" means:

“The COMPANY “means:
UNITED INSURANCE COMPANY, With their Head Office at Sana´a – Yemen
“The Reinsurer “means:
“The Assistance Company “means:

"Usual Country of Residence" means:
The country where the Insured Person usually lives, being legally resident in the same.
"Illness" means:
Any change in health diagnosed and confirmed by a legally recognised doctor during the life of the policy and which is not comprised in either of the following two groups:
-          Congenital disease: that exists at the moment of birth as a consequence of hereditary factors or complaints acquired during pregnancy.
-          Pre-existing disease: that the Insured Person suffered prior to the effective date of this Policy.
"Serious Illness" means:
Any change in health that requires admission to hospital and which, in the opinion of theCompany's medical team, and prevents the Insured Person from continuing travel on the date planned, or which involves the risk of death.
"Injury" means:
A medical problem caused by a sudden and severe external cause/reason beyond the control of the Insured Person, within the validity period of this Policy.
"Serious Injury" means:
An injury which, in the opinion of the Company's medical team, and prevents the Insured Person from continuing travel on the date planned, or which involves the risk of death.
A physical document or its electronic equivalent that entitles a person named on it to be transported on Yemenia lines or those of its code-share partners. It must be purchased from Yemenia or its Partners through authorized agents, and conform to IATA’s regulations at the time of issue. It must show a Yemenia flight code. Endorsements and re-issues due to changes in flight details are considered to be the same Ticket.
The scheduled transportation service for passengers , via aeroplane from one airport to another on a given date, as per IATA regulations.
The Company guarantees the Insured Person the provision of services or payment of indemnities detailed below, arising from the events described, within the Territorial Limits and within the Cover Period specified, and up to the Limits and Insured Amounts specified on this General Conditions or on the Policy Schedule.
Territorial Limits
1)     For each trip, cover will apply in the country of destination specified in the ticket, and in any country visited by the Insured Person.
2)     Cover does not apply to events taking place in the Insured Person’s Usual Country of Residence, or on the country where the trip starts (where the airport where the first TG-coded flight departs, as shown on the Ticket, is located), with the exception of the departure airport’s international area.
Cover Period
1)     For each Trip, cover will commence at the time the traveller passes the local immigration point to board a Yemenia-coded international flight.
2)     Cover will cease after 10 days from the date of arrival to the  initial destination specified in the ticket for one way ticket flight, or when the person passes the local immigration in order to leave the country in case that the passenger has one ticket for go and come back.
3)     Covered trips are only those where a Ticket (as defined in this Policy) has been issued by Yemenia or its code-share partners, and only in respect of Yemenia-coded Flights.
Cover Limit
In addition to any limits expressly shown on the Coverage sections, the following limits apply:
The Company will immediately provide the Insured Person the assistance specified in case of need due to unforeseen incidents during travels outside his/her Usual Country of Residence. This covers are subject to limits provided for in the Policy Schedule. These services are rendered solely in case there is not a more specific insurance covering the event.

Transport or medical repatriation in the case of sudden illness or injury of the Insured person
In the event of an serious accident or serious illness, the Company will take charge of transferring or repatriating the Insured Person to a properly equipped health centre or to his/her usual country of residence.
The Company, through its medical team, will decide which health centre the Insured Person is transferred to or whether repatriation is necessary, depending on the situation or gravity of the state the latter is in.
Afterwards, the Company's medical team will maintain the telephone contacts necessary with the medical centre and with the doctors attending to the Insured Person, and on the basis thereof will decide whether to transfer or repatriate the Insured Person, and on the most suitable means of transport to use.
For minor or less serious illnesses or accidents, which in the opinion of the medical team do not require repatriation, transfer will be performed in ambulance or another means of transport, to the place where adequate medical assistance can be provided.
 Medical expenses and hospitalization abroad
In the event of illness or injury of the Insured Person occurring outside the Usual Country of Residence, The Company will meet the usual, customary, necessary and reasonable costs of hospitalization, surgery, medical fees and pharmaceutical products, prescribed by the attending doctor.
 The Company's medical team will maintain the telephone contacts necessary with the centre and with the doctors attending to the Insured Persons to supervise the provision of proper health care.
This cover is subject to a limit provided by the referred plan of 50.000 USD.
100 USD excess is applicable per claim
c) Travel and stay of one of the Insured person’s family members.
In the case that the Insured Person’s hospitalization abroad is foreseen to be longer than five days, the Company will pay the amount of the return trip for a family member to the place of hospitalization and the staying expenses there for up to 150 $ USA/day, with a maximum of 600 $ USA, or 4 days.
 Repatriation of mortal remains
In the event of the death of the Insured Person, the Company will make the arrangements necessary for his/her transport or repatriation and will meet the cost of the transfer expenses to the place of interment, cremation or funeral ceremony at his/her usual country of residence.
Payment of expenses for interment, cremation or funeral ceremony is excluded from this guarantee.
Emergency return home following death of a close family member
When an Insured Person's trip/journey is interrupted by the death of a close family member (up to second grade), the Company will meet the cost of travel to the usual country of residence, whenever he/she is unable to travel by his/her own means of transport or the means of transport hired for the trip. However, the Insured Person shall be required to furnish the evidence, documents or certificates of the event, interrupting the journey (death certificate).
Dispatch of urgent  Medicines
The Company will cover the expenses of sending medicines, in case of emergency, which are prescribed by the Doctor of the insured person even if this prescription is previous to the trip, and are not available at the place where she/he is staying.
Travel of the Insured Person due to the interruption of the trip because of an accident at the usual residence.
The Company will pay the Beneficiary urgent travelling expenses to the Insured person usual residence, due to the occurrence of burglary with breaking of doors or windows, fire or explosion at the habitual residence, which make it uninhabitable or with serious risk that greater damage might occur which could justify in an essential, immediate manner, his/her personal presence and the need for the aforementioned trip and whenever this displacement may not be carried out using the transport used or contracted on the trip.
 Transmission of Urgent Messages
The Company will take charge of relaying the urgent messages of the Insured person relating to any of the events covered in the Policy.
 Cash advance abroad
If, during a trip abroad, the Insured Person were deprived of cash as a result of robbery, loss of baggage, illness or accident, duly proved by the presentation of the corresponding documentary proof (receipts, certificates, formal complaints, etc.), the Company shall arrange to forward up to the sum specified in the referred plan, provided that the amount requested is deposited beforehand at the registered offices of Company in the form of Cashier's Payment Order (CPO) or cash.
Loss of passport  abroad
In case of loss of the Insured Person's passport while abroad, the Company will take charge of the expenses of the replacements necessary for obtaining a new passport driving license, national identity card or equivalent consular document, up to the amount provided by the referred plan.
Cancellation Expenses.
Non-refundable reservation fees, in the event of trip cancellation or discontinuation as a result of circumstances beyond control of the beneficiary (death of immediate family member, fire/explosion loss to the beneficiary’s house, loss due to burglary, or beneficiary’s hospitalization),  for an amount not exceeding 500 US Dollars.
The guarantees relating to baggage and personal possessions that belong to the Insured Person are those listed in this article, and will be provided according to the conditions set out below.
In all cases, the original certificate of the carrier or complainant, reporting the occurrence of the loss/accident must be furnished.
(a)    Compensation for in-flight loss of baggage checked-in
The Company will supplement the compensation for which the carrier is liable up to a limit of USD 500 as a sum of both compensation payments, for the collection of baggage and possessions checked in by each Insured Person, in the event of loss during the carriage by air performed by the carrier company, for the purpose of which the Insured Person shall furnish a list of the contents including the estimated price and date of purchase of each item, as well as the settlement of the compensation payment by the carrier. Compensation payment for loss will be calculated according to the procedures recommended by international carriage by air organisations.
  The minimum period of time that must elapse for the baggage to be considered to have been lost once and for all will be that stipulated by the carrier company but shall not be less than 21 days.
Money, jewellery, debit/credit cards, and any type of document are excluded from this guarantee.
(b)    Compensation for delay in the arrival of luggage
The Company covers the minimum delay of 24 hours in the arrival of registered and tagged luggage on an IATA Member Airline in the event the luggage was registered, with as maximum the sum provided by the referred plan, for the purchase of articles of basic necessity.
All such claims shall be accompanied by documents duly certified by the Airline attesting to the occurrence of the event.
(c)     Location and forwarding of baggage and personal effects
The Company will furnish the Insured Person with advice on reporting the robbery or loss of his/her baggage and personal possessions, and will collaborate in arrangements for locating them. In the event that the aforesaid possessions should be recovered, the Company will take charge of forwarding them to the place of the trip planned by the Insured Person or to his/her usual country of residence.  In this event, the Insured Person is under an obligation to return the compensation received for the loss in accordance with this Policy.
1)     In the event of any claim the liability of the Company shall be conditional on the Insured Person claiming indemnity or benefit having complied with and continuing to comply with the terms of this Policy.
2)     In the event of a claim under this Policy the Insured Person shall:
a)   Take all reasonable precautions to minimize the loss.
b)   As soon as possible telephone the Company to notify the claim stating the Benefits required.
c)   Freely provide the Company with all relevant information.
d)   Make no admission of liability or offer promise or payment of any kind.
3)     MAPFRE ASISTENCIA / UNITED INSURANCE will not reimburse or consider reimbursing any expenses which were not previously approved. Previously approved expenses will have to include the claim number obtained from Company

1)    Loss, damage, illness and/or injury directly or indirectly caused by, arising out of and/or in consequence of the following are excluded from the guarantee/cover granted under this Policy:
a)   the bad faith of the Insured Person, by his/her participation in criminal acts, or as a result of his/her fraudulent, seriously negligent or reckless actions including those actions of the Insured in a state of derangement or under psychiatric treatment costs for which are themselves excluded;
b)   extraordinary natural phenomena such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, atypical cyclonic storms, falling objects from space and aerolites, and in general any extraordinary atmospheric, meteorological, seismic or geological phenomenon;
c)   Events arising from terrorism, mutiny or crowd disturbances;
d)   Events or actions of the Armed Forces or Security Forces in peacetime;
e)   Wars, with or without prior declaration, and any conflicts or international interventions using force or duress;
 f)    Those caused by or resulting from radioactive materials and nuclear energy;
g)   Those caused when the Insured Person takes part in bets, challenges or brawls, save in the case of legitimate defence or necessity;
h)   Illness or injuries existing prior to the claim, unless expressly included in the Private or Special Conditions and subject to payment of the relevant surcharge premium;
i)    Those that occur as a result of the participation by the Insured Persons in competitions, sports, and preparatory or training tests;
j)    engaging in the following sports: motor racing or motorcycle racing in any of its modes, big game hunting outside European territory, underwater diving using artificial lung, navigation in international waters in craft not intended for the public transport of passengers, horse riding, climbing, pot holing, boxing, wrestling in any of its modes, martial arts, parachuting, hot air ballooning, free falling, gliding and, in general, any sport or recreational activity that is known to be dangerous;
k)   Participation in competitions or tournaments organised by sporting federations or similar organisations.
l)    Hazardous winter and/or summer sports such as skiing and/or similar sports.
m)   The use, as a passenger or crew, of means of air navigation not authorised for the public transport of travellers, as well as helicopters; and,
n)   The accidents deemed legally to be work or labour accidents, consequence of a risk inherent to the work performed by the Insured Person.
2)    In addition to the foregoing General Exclusions, the following benefits are not covered by this insurance:
a)   the services arranged by the Insured Person on his/her own behalf, without prior communication or without the consent of the Company, except in the case of an emergency/urgent necessity. In that event, the Insured shall furnish the Company with the vouchers and original copies of the invoices;
b)   Illnesses or injuries arising from chronic ailments or from those that existed prior to the inception date of the policy;
c)   Death as a result of suicide and the injuries or after-effects brought about by suicide and/or attempted suicide.
 d)   Illness, injuries or pathological states caused by the voluntary consumption of alcohol, drugs, toxic substances, narcotics or medicines acquired without medical prescription, as well as any kind of mental illness or mental imbalance;
e)   Illness or injuries resulting from refusal and/or delay, on the part of the Insured Person or persons responsible for him/her, in the transfer proposed by the Company and agreed by its medical service;
f)    Rehabilitation treatments;
g)   Prostheses, orthopaedic material or thesis and osteosyn thesis material, as well as spectacles.
h)   Illness or injuries caused by pregnancy and childbirth or any complication therefore or voluntary termination of pregnancy;
i)    Assistance or compensation for events that occurred during a trip that had commenced, in any of the following circumstances:
1)     Before this insurance comes into force;
2)     With the intention of receiving medical treatment;
3)     After the diagnosis of a terminal illness;
4)     Without prior medical authorisation, after the Insured Person had been under treatment or medical supervision during the twelve months prior to the start of the trip;
j)    Expenses that arise once the Insured Person is at his/her usual country of residence, those incurred beyond the scope of application of the guarantees of the insurance, and, in any case, after the dates of the travel object of the Policy have elapsed or after 90 days has elapsed since the start thereof, notwithstanding what is provided for in the Additional Clauses or in the Private or Special Conditions.
The Company is exempt from liability when, as a result of force majeure, it is unable to put into effect any of the benefits specifically envisaged in this policy.
